The argument
Babylon is larger than one ancient city and more concrete than a vague symbol of badness. It is the world-city that accumulates luxury, trafficking, royal power, religious intoxication, and the blood of prophets and saints.
Why it matters
The Society cannot prepare the Great King's house by seeking a favored chamber inside Babylon's economy of image, status, and consumption.
The identification should expose systems, including our own participation, rather than become a slogan used only against political enemies.
