Resurrection Society

Become Like Yeshua.

We spent years investigating Christianity, theology, and the Bible. What remained was surprisingly simple: Yeshua. His life. His teachings. His way of treating people. Resurrection Society exists to understand that way as honestly as we can and live it.

We stopped trying to explain Yeshua and started trying to follow him.

Christianity accumulated enormous theological systems around Yeshua. What is his metaphysical nature? How did incarnation work? What exactly happened during atonement? What is the correct theory of salvation? Which denomination interpreted everything correctly?

We investigated these questions extensively. Eventually we realized something: Yeshua did not ask his followers to construct a perfect theological system about him. He asked them to follow him.

So that is what Resurrection Society now attempts to do.

Meet the Historical Yeshua

The Way

This is the work.

Not a performance of religion. Not a status game. Not another doctrinal machine. A life shaped by the actual pattern of Yeshua.

Love Yahweh.

Love your neighbor.

Love your enemy.

Forgive.

Tell the truth.

Serve rather than dominate.

Care for people others discard.

Give without needing recognition.

Reject religious hypocrisy.

Make peace.

Practice mercy.

Pray without performance.

Treat people as you would want to be treated.

Do not confuse status with greatness.

Become the kind of human being Yeshua was.

Faith Without Theology

Theology is no longer the substance of our faith.

Faith Without Theology does not mean we prohibit theological thought. Members are free to investigate theology, history, prophecy, biblical interpretation, consciousness, resurrection, ancient religion, metaphysics, or anything else.

We publish these investigations. Authors may disagree with one another. Readers may reject their conclusions. Resurrection Society does not require agreement. Our research library is an open intellectual laboratory.

The Way is small. The library is enormous. Do not mistake the library for the Way.

What Happened to the Bible?

We took the Bible seriously enough to investigate how it actually came into existence.

That meant asking uncomfortable questions about authorship, anonymous texts, pseudonymous texts, textual variants, interpolations, literary dependence, oral tradition, legendary development, competing early communities, canon formation, and later church doctrine.

We discovered that the Bible is not one seamless book dropped intact from heaven. It is a library: documents from different periods, communities, and purposes, carrying different degrees of historical proximity to Yeshua.

That discovery did not leave us with nothing. It gave us permission to ask a much better question: what can we actually recover about Yeshua?

Even when a doctrine falls away, Yeshua remains.

When authorship becomes uncertain, Yeshua remains.

When a later theological development is identified, Yeshua remains.

When a traditional interpretation fails, Yeshua remains.

When we admit that we do not know, Yeshua remains.

Resurrection Society is built around what survives honest investigation, not around protecting what we inherited.

An Open Society of Inquiry

Truth does not need us to lie for it.

We do not require people to pretend certainty, defend old positions quietly, or turn today's best hypothesis into tomorrow's creed.

Say “I don't know” when you don't know.

Change your mind when evidence changes.

Distinguish evidence from interpretation.

Distinguish history from confession.

Present the strongest argument against your own position.

Do not hide inconvenient evidence.

Do not protect our books or founders from criticism.

Correct yourself publicly when correction is needed.

The Library

The Way is simple. The archive is large.

259 indexed books and 1,184 podcast episodes remain available for study, disagreement, revision, and reconstruction.

Yeshua

Historical study of Yeshua, his sayings, actions, context, teachings, death, and earliest resurrection traditions.

The Reconstruction

Books examining what can responsibly be recovered after critical examination of the biblical texts.

Open Inquiry

Theological, historical, prophetic, philosophical, archaeological, comparative-religion, and speculative investigations.

Deconstruction

Research into how Christianity, doctrine, canon, institutions, and biblical traditions developed.

Archive

Earlier Resurrection Society works preserved as intellectual history, including conclusions now revised or considered speculative.

We Change Our Minds

We would rather correct ourselves publicly than defend ourselves privately.

Religions often treat changing one's mind as apostasy. We regard it as one possible consequence of learning.

The public revision ledger will show previous conclusions, current conclusions, what evidence changed our assessment, affected books, and the date of revision.

See What We've Changed Our Minds About

What We Actually Believe

We believe in Yahweh, the Father. We follow Yeshua, His Messiah.

We believe Yeshua was killed and that Yahweh raised him from death. We seek to understand his teachings as accurately as possible. We dedicate ourselves to living them.

Beyond this, ask questions freely.

Find Yeshua. Follow Yeshua. Everything else is open.
