Strength without cruelty
The test of strength is not always what it can overcome. Sometimes it is what it refuses to destroy.
Gentleness is often confused with having no boundaries. That mistake makes kindness appear incompatible with courage. In practice, care may require a clear refusal, an interruption, or protection for someone who cannot protect themselves.
The question is whether strength serves that protection or becomes an appetite of its own. We can stop harmful conduct without enjoying a person's humiliation. We can speak truth without making cruelty the proof of our seriousness.
Yeshua's teaching on mercy and enemies does not make every practical question simple. It makes those questions harder to evade. What kind of person am I becoming through the way I oppose someone?
An ordinary gathering offers plenty of occasions to practice. Give another person space. Challenge an idea accurately. Refuse an insult even when it would earn the room's approval.
Gentleness is strength disciplined by regard for another human being.
